That was one of the well known ones I think.

I was listening to the Black Angels earlier, they're a newer Psychedelic band and they reminded me of the Prunes.

I noticed the similarity.

I don't think it was this one, It wasn't this radio friendly!

The day continues in a satisfyingly varied vein with Hop, Skip and Wobble by Jerry Douglas, Russ Barenberg and Edgar Meyer. A trio of big hitters from various but overlapping musical worlds: Barenberg on acoustic guitar, Douglas on dobro and Meyer a titan on double bass. Douglas's sound has become so definitive for contemporary dobro players it's almost a cliché, however there's no denying his excellence as a player (and it's not his fault that so many players ape his sound) and he's in fine form here . As are they all. Edgar Meyer - sheesh!

Wow! This is really freaking good. Some great compositions, and the playing is impeccable. In places it's reminiscent of Talking Heads, but these guys have the chops to fully execute the idea.

An LP with a Floyd Rose! It's good stuff. That was the song I was thinking about!

Mike Mangini does a great Neil Peart on the new DT album

Been meaning to check Nick Cave's stuff out for years but never have. Where's a good place to start?

Bruce Molsky - Soon Be Time

I saw this guy in the UK in 2009. Two nights running. Two of the best live performances I have seen. He's renowned as an old-time fiddler (quiet at the back!) but his musical range is broader than that and he's also excellent on guitar and banjo.

Terry Lee Hale - The Blue Room

Sometimes sparse is enough.

It may encourage some to know that Hale has never had a major label deal, doesn't have enough of an audience in his own country (the USA) to make it worthwhile being based there but is able to make a good living as a musician in Europe (but not the UK, he does well in France, Germany and Eastern Europe) and has released a dozen albums on indy labels. There's ways of making it that have little to do with hitting the Billboard Hot 100.
