Steve Morse Band - Out Standing In Their Field
... Highly recommended.
New Steve Morse...oh cool. I'm going to pick that up. I only have Structural Damage. How does this compare?
On SD, I found his guitar tone a little wheeny, I really wished he'd be more in-your-face with it. Shred doesn't have to be all that tasteful to keep me happy. (Intelligent and original in some way, definitely. Tasteful, that's optional. ? ) However, over time I've found myself repeatedly going back to the album when I'm in the mood for something melodic and gentle. So I guess in the end I "got" what he's doing.
Slightly off topic: Who attended his workshop in Newtown JHB when Deep Purple toured here? When was it... '94 maybe? Man what an awesome, awesome player and nice guy.
