That's the new one right? How is it?
Still getting used to it. Beginning to enjoy it ?

Today's commute listening is Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy. Musically I like this (especially the chordal/open tuning magic on "Rain Song") but I'm starting to have my doubts about the cod Tolkien lyrics, the half-baked embracing of mythology, the paint-by-numbers mysticism.

Not too sure yet, enjoying his songwriting more than his voice if that makes sense. Jolene is a good song

Woke up with Scar Tissue playing in my head. So although I normally don't listen to the RHCP no more (cos their ultra-compressed records give me a headache) I found myself putting on Californication first thing this morning.

Well, I've recently had James Phillips's song "Shot Down In The Streets" following me around. Starting off with finding it covered on Gil Hockman's CD, and then most recently hearing it performed live as an unannounced climax of the Singer/Songwriter show at the Civic last week (the performers included Hockman, and Chris Letcher who did a thumping cover of the same song with Urban Creep). I knew James a bit, and always admired his song writing but thought I was in a club of not very many. So I'm quite pleased to suddenly find that song lurking around nearly every corner.
Anyhoo, this morning's commute listening was dominated by Hockman's acoustic punk (my description, not his) rendition of said song.
