I shall have to give it a go then although I am not into croaky metal growling in the main. (I am old fashioned in that way )

Averatu

Leviathan and Blood Mountain. They're not really screamy metal, the roaring is almost secondary to the music, their original vocalist quit as they where going on tour, so they just jumped in and made it work. I'd rate them more progressive 70's style with metal elements, but that's a gross simplification.

+1 I would have them close to Best Rock Band of all time as well, just beaten by Led Zeppelin by a whisker.

It's good as can be expected from them. ? They do some of the classics/hits, a few new ones from the upcoming album (not bad stuff, I will have to give it another listen though) as well as the entire Moving Pictures album. 26 Songs in total.

I'm just listening to the cd version at the moment, but the DVD/BluRay should definitely be worth it as well.

Muse - Haarp Live from Wembly Stadium

I know there are a lot of critics of Matt Bellamy but I think he is one hectically talented individual.

He is foremost a keyboardist who plays guitar and he does an excellent job adding very creative textures and riffs.

The rest of the band are an incredible tight rhythm section.

How's this for co-incidence? Guy Onreat posts this on his FB page, his cousin and a mate (who will be appearing at Marks Park 2morrow), playing "Classical Gas", then 2 days later, a friend of mine in Australia sends me Tommy playing the same thing.........now I cannot get this tune out of my head!!! ? Is this a sign that I've gotta get my acoustic out and start practicing?

John Scofield - A Moments Peace (2011 Release)

Trying to understand his way of playing, it takes a some getting used to!

He has a very heavy handed approach to playing, and each note seems to be thought out very carefully, no widdly bits on this album

I think I might be getting it after 20 years of trying

Richard Thompson - Rumor and Sigh

Really my motivation was Jack Flash's outpourings of love for Jerry Scheff who plays all the bass on this album and does a fab job. The depth (and breadth) of the songwriting on this album is remarkable and it's probably his best recorded vocal performance. Dig the anti-Maggie rant "Mother Knows Best" with really pissed-off guitar soloing. Even if you love Maggie you can still love those solos.
