The Strokes - Angles: Some dodgy songs, but a few that are a great return to form, especially Under Cover of Darkness, Gratisfaction and Metabolism. Venturi and Hammond Jr have such great tone and there's a great interplay between the two guitarists.
I hope you mean Valensi ?
I think Angles is cool.. there's lots different in terms of the wrappings of their sound, but there is still a definite "Strokeness" about it. Been listening cover to cover and its really growing on me. I very like Machu Picchu. They kind of novelize the 80's thing in the beginning, and then rip it up into pure Strokes raunch bridge and chorus. Taken for a Fool is classic Strokes. They also opted to get this album very separated in terms of mixing.. Much more defined and crisper than their previous stuff. Not sure if I like it that way though.. I think a little bit of flow and looseness suits them..
Came across this the other day, its appropriateness is uncanny
