Indeed, but it's kind of wasted. I can't see the point of spending good money to get a nice flame or birdseye figure on the BACK of the neck where it's not likely to be seen. A flame top I understand, but a flame back of the neck? No... don't understand that unless it has some impact on the tone that common or garden maple does not.
I wouldn't mind having a guitar that had a paisley front (and I do think this one is rather tasty) and a plain back.
Ja... ja... ja... I'm the guy who posted that picture in the first place. The inner turmoil keeps me awake at night, and I find myself contemplating if the flame is still beautiful if it's inside a branch on a tree deep within an impenetrable forest and thus will never be seen, not even by woodpeckers. I think the answer is the sound of one hand clapping.
