It's just not true that there are no cool new rock guitars anymore. Paul Gilbert took the already classic Ibanez Iceman, flipped it, modded it, and produced this:

Now not everyone will agree with me, but I think this is a really hip new rock guitar, and I'd be surprised if it's disappeared in a few years. My only gripe is the headstock's a bit gougey, but otherwise it's a very cool guitar for the likes of people who use Jaguars, Firebirds, Mustangs, or any of the other slightly zany guitar designs.
It's got a Gibson scale length, hum-cancelling single coils, Korina body, Korina/Bubinga neck.
It also confirms my opinion of Paul Gilbert as rather outside the Malmsteen school of shredders tastewise ?
