I thought I'd spoil myself to a nice comedy last night which is our local soccer team and watch the game (They won, it was still hillarious. We must be one of the most embarresing teams in the football world IMHO). That noise gets old within the first 2 minutes? Sometimes you can't even hear the commentator although admittingly I didn't want to hear sometimes as the dude was making more noise than said excrement (I'll withold details).

Last week I watched another game and the noise just stayed constant when one team scored a big goal? Like wth? If the 'thing' were used to exclaim excitement and happyness like after a goal is scored I would have been all for it, great being souf afreekin and all? But aaaall the fricken time?

I remember being in the departure lounge at ORT international in 2005, a mate was jamming my guitar and I was playing tunes on the Vuvuzela. We attracted quite a bit of attention. Sounded cool too.

No Matt, gotta disagree. I find that the pipes are stirring. I think that these plastic bugle bitso sheet are supposed to be but they like stir me in the wrong way. I remember many years ago at our rag parade, I was on such a plak and wandered right thru PMB with the pipe band. I dont follow soccer but you want to watch your country play but each time I go to the television and try it just grates me too much.

All this time I've been suffering in silence, thinking I was the only one ? now I know I'm not...

I've heard people saying that the vuvuzela is a part of Africa that you can't take away, almost as if its some sacred relic! What's more, Coca-Cola incorporates the vuvuzela into its advertising campaign posters for the 2010 world cup. When I saw that I knew we were poked.. Oh well, here's to hoping that the vuvuzela is the most embarassing thing that happens to us safricans during the world cup.

I went to the Italy vs USA game, it was like sitting in a beehive for 90mins.

I can see you guys are stressed out by the vuvuzela; me, I look after two year olds, 20 of them. I'll leave it at that. Talking about cowbell made me think of the Christopher Walken skit. Very funny but very hard to find though. Here's a snippet:

Apparently if somebody Vuvs a Vuvuzela they have caught some nice juicy fischies [ponounced as Gollum/Smeagol would... ?].
That is what it was originally inteded to be used as....me thinks.

So I don't know how on earth it got up to Gauteng and other places inland.....maby the Vaal Dam aspired people to start utilizing it. Hehe.

You guys are all crazy.........one guy has mastered the VUVUZELA........Donovan, here's a challenge.......record your tune(s) and post it here so all these crazy people can appreciate a real masterpiece of modern musical technology.........hahaha ?

Tauriq.......that's never gonna happen, people can sign 20million, it's not gonna happen........it's a South African soccer cultural thing that's been around for ages, not gonna happen!

I hate to be the one to pee on the party fire here. I can not ask anybody to like what they do not like, but I can only ask everybody to be more tollerable towards the customs and habits that make this country the wondefull place it is. Unfortunately this forum has shown a tendancy to be intollarable (and sometimes plain insulting) towards any other culture than that of a very small minority.

OK, go on and hate me for peeing on the fun.
