I have Neal Schon's "sound of thunder" solo album.
It's quite Jazzy and Bluesy and his tone gives you goosebumps.

I pulled it out after this thread started and it's still good. ?

For my taste bands like Journey & Toto are too slick & commercial. The first 3 Journey albums really kicked arse, almost like Mahavishnu with vocals. Toto are great musicians, but they play wimpy pop/rock IMHO. They need to eat some red meat!!
Rush & Zeppellin really rock.

Steve Perry's arrival sparked changes in Journey. When Greg Rolie left they became terminally AOR boring.

The thing that I remember about Neal Schon is that some of my favourite Santana solos turned out to be played by Neal Schon.

Sure, some of their early stuff can be considered as above.
However, albums like Kingdom of Desire (1992) and Tambu (1995) are more guitar-centric and aren't wimpy by a long shot!

Yes, Arjun. The only Toto CD I have is "Kingdom of Desire". They just need more of the same. Good musicians though. As I said earlier, they just need to eat some red meat, to get their testosterone levels up.
