Hi all!
Nibs van der Spuy is doing a concert in eShowe, Zululand on Friday 19th June. On Saturday 20th, he'll be doing a free guitar workshop. All levels welcome.

Shout if you're interested.

P.S. eShowe is approx 1 hour 45mins from Durbs and about an hour from Richards Bay/Empangeni.

Cheers,

My word! Wish I could be there! I could do with some touching up of a workshop! ??? ☹ But I know my dad's not going to drive me all the way to Zululand... :'(

I have heard a lot about Nibs and another guitarist Guy Buttery (spelling, I think) who are doing acoustic playing proud in KZN.
Would love to see him and the workshop, just a bit too far!

Carmen cant your Dad give us all a lift? ?

Yea, Guy Buttery played here a few months ago - he's amazing. Has recently moved to the Cape.

Slowly but surely we're putting eShowe on the SA music map!!

I wish he would... ☹ But it's firstly:
Too much money with petrol,
and secondly,
TOO much effort...
My dad doesn't like travelling...he travels to Joberg twice a week...

i'm in Jozi...an't be there ... but i strongly urge all musicians even if you rock players to go to this workshop... Nibs is an unsung hero of acoustic guitar in this country he has fabulous songwriting, technique and performs all over the world... he also used to teach music and prob still does so he is a skilled tutor ....recently a jazz guitar lecturer at Wits was telling me how Nibs used to lecture him.... so yeah this guy is someone who actually has something to offer ..........

so find a way hitch a ride/hire a bus but get there ...... i'm sure you will return a slightly more enlightened musician...... this is an international standard artist ... just in this country he seems to have somehow not gained the publicity of other acoustic players but those of us in acoustic world music scene see him as a legend in SA acoustic music scene.

peace and light
Keira

ps to think i said such nice things about him and i don't even know him personaly(hope he see's this and puts a cheque in the mail ... heheheheh ) i have seen him perform live and do duets with guy buttery often and enjoyed every performance ....
