Trevor Hi All, Can anyone give me some practical advice here about restringin a right hander to left. Is restringing as simple as a new nut and swapping the strings or are there other adjustments to be done.
AlanRatcliffe Depends on the type of guitar. Aside from the nut and strings, the bridge needs to be taken into account. If it's electric the bridge will need to be reintonated. Nylon will be OK, although a compensated saddle will have the be replaced with a lefty (or a normal non-compensated one). Steel string requires a bridge modification to fill the slot with wood, re-rout the slot with the slant in the opposite direction and a new lefthanded saddle.
aja Trevor wrote Thanks Alan, that s more info than any music dealer could give me Cheers That's because they want you to buy a lefty instead of making your own! scumbags ?
