looking to invest in some additional condenser mics . currently using some shure 16A's but I know they've been discontinued. what would the current/new equivalent be?

Look at the Shure KSM 109. It has just been discontinued but Wild & Marr Cape might still have stock.
Otherwise Shure SM-81 (Very good but more expensive), or SM 94
