feedback on jonathan's open mic ight on 3rd june

Jonathans' was a fab success last night....

and we were graced by 4 songs from this very own forums...... singing /guitar playing 'drummer" neps... who had an fab set ...and i hope he had fun ....playing his strat ....

also performing was Shotgun Tori, The Sean Hays band , the duo "meow" and a girl solo guitarist to watch karen who did some cool loop station grooves.... and plays a real funky guitar and i (Keira Witherkay) opened with a solo set.....

and then when everyone had played i had impromtu and unrehearsed fun with sean Hay's percussionist...
as we ended the night with an improv experimental set of percussion and off the wall guitar....

more than a hint self indulgent but it felt like a good thing to do at the time..... and the first time we had ever played together and i somehow think there will be many more such sessions to come.....not sure what it sounded like from the audience but we were having fun ....

so thanks for performing Neps..... you rocked and your version of the "nudies" blue eyes was by far my favourite .... well played there ....

Well.. it was a lot of fun.. Had some of my friends come through, and they all loved the people who played the evening before me.. And then they were treated by my nice, off key singing style.. ?

Yet again, thanks Keira for this awesome idea!

2 things I've learnt from last night though.. John Mayer is difficult to sing and play together!! Don't look into a girls eyes when singing 'heart of life', it makes you forget the words to the song!! :-[ And, oh, before I forget... NEW strings Johann.. Remember to put on new strings next time!

Bold to do John Mayer stuff, because it's the voice and the playing.
When are you going to do Neon?
Maybe we should get 3 guitarists together and do "Daughters" ?

I;m starting to get Neon down playing wise.. About 90% there.. But to sing along is quite a *(^*^$%# I'm actually thinking to do 'daughters' and 'free falling' at some stage.. Jip, I love covering John Mayer stuff.. (Yes I know, Free Falling isn't his origional, but his cover rocks!) I'm not however too sure if the audience likes it when I cover Mayer.. ?

We should also have a GFSA colab!! Send out the TABs and then get everyone together to play a set.

Thanks to you I'm giving Jm a serious listen now and I'm getting the hang of Slow Dancing (once again, thanks to you.). Perhaps I should learn the second (or slide) guitar part and join you one day when I'm big.

That said, I'm trying my damndest to get at least a few songs together so that I can return to Jonathans and not have to hide my face.
