Dont know if anyone else suffers similarly, but up here on the highveld my hands and fingers get like seriously road-worn in the winter. The genuine job mind you. Nothing contrived.
Get rid of the bike, start driving a car ?
I don't have too much of that problem these days, but many years ago when I was in the army I found the skin on my knuckles cracking in the winter. Military medicine being what it was at the time we had to eliminate LSD, masturbation, aversion to soap and water, homosexuality and failure to eat breakfast as possible causes.* THEN they gave me some Ingrams camphor cream to rub into my hands and things cleared up pretty quickly. I believe this is the same product Squonk refers to.
I used to have problems with fingers, especially on the left hand, going white and numb on cold mornings. This has improved hugely since carpal tunnel relief surgery and lots of physio therapy and stretches for my neck. But I have a question mark about the doctor involved - he never once asked me about masturbation.
* This, of course, was a very inefficient way of doing things. They should have just asked if I were a communist because everybody knew that communists did all of those things - with the possible exception that they might actually eat breakfast.
