I discovered that when Mr Valve sent me some valves and insisted on using PostNet rather than Speed Services, because "PostNet are far better". After travelling for two hours to pick up the parcel (the other downside to PostNet - they only have branches in major towns), I was handed my valves... in a Speed Services packet.
