The simple remedy is to reduce the bass output of the microphone by either reducing the bass of the microphone channel on the mixer by between 3 to 6dB of bass cut, or switching in a high-pass filter on the mixer channel if the mixer has this facility.
Is this what my mixer refers to as a 'low-cut' switch? I engage this on my vocals channels, but not on the channel carrying the line feed from my guitar (via the GT6). You agree with not cutting on the guitar?
Great post, Tom. Learnt a stack. ?
Correct.
You can also use it for the guitar channel as well as the filter is usually set to either 80 or 100hz thereby cleaning up the guitar signal. I use a high pass filter on all my guitar channels as I mic up amps on stage and this reduces the chance of bass feedback off the mics. Best is to try itand see if it improves your guitar sound.
Also good for acoustic guitar feedback reduction unless you play percussive stuff on the body of the acoustic (Ala Keira...)
Typically where you do not use a high pass filter is on tracks, bass guitar and kick drum.
