Im thinking about buying this Amp Head...

Does anyone have any experience with this head

A good Cab to match?

My purpose is for recording. I want to capture those warm Tube tones...
but without blasting the neighbors away

I take it I cant line out with this Head, so I will have to get a cab and mic it up...

What is the smallest / good priced Cab?

I heard one of these going through an AC30's alnico blue.... was nice! ?

How about Vintage Vibe's tiny terror matched with mattyd's 2x12" vox blue cab? ?

not to sure about smaller cabs.

And also I'm wondering whether this amp can produce the Tone I'm looking for

(Instrumental Rock) - Satriani , Vai, etc

Or is it more blues based...

There are clips on Youtube of guys playing Metal riffs with it (without any boost pedals)

so the amp definately has enough Gain...

It's not a high gain amp, but the right drive in front and the right speakers will take it there. Celestion vintage 30s would do nicely for the rock thing IMO. Matching it with Celestion blues will accentuate the slight Voxy character it already has.

I used to own one... I also used it with the Vox cab with Alnico Blues.

Personally I liked the cleans but I found the highs to be far too sharp.
I thought it might of been just because the speakers were new and needed to be broken in, but then I tried it on a vintage Bandmaster cab and it was still too bright.

Sure, this could be helped with decent tubes put in but I don't know... it just didn't sit well with me.

On the other hand, if you try it and you love it then I would suggest looking at the cheaper 2X12 Laney cab that they have in Marshall Music in Cape Town. When I played the Tiny Terror through that one then it rounded out the sound a bit more and sounded pretty sweet.
Be careful of mid-rangey type speakers and cabs... the amp has PLENTY of that already.

By the way... I ended up selling my cab for R5000... a complete steal in my opinion but ya ?
At least now it'll be used.
