Thought I'd let y'all know that Lovemore's is opening in Boksburg on 13 June. Words from their flyer:

The oke in the shop told me that they are planning on having the sort of minute madness thing on the hour. Anyway, check it out.

Are opening specials generally worth it?

What are we talking about, like 10% discount?

The main thing for an opening sale is to get the punters in to see the new store, rather than making profits. An educated guess, but you should see 15-25% across the board and spot specials of 33-50%. So yeah it's usually worth it. Clearance sales too, where there will usually be a few items well below cost.

Semi off-topic:
Don't you hate sales where they advertise "Amazing specials!", but don't give you any idea of what to expect? I'm not getting off my butt and getting through to a major city (it's something like a 400KM round trip for me to get to Cape Town) on the off-chance that they have something I want. If you know there's at least one item you want to buy, it's worth going through and you may find even more when you are there.

The best is like Turnkey do - supply an excel file of all the specials. Even though there's little chance I will physically make it to the sale myself (seeing as it's a 3,000km round-trip), if it's a good enough special, I'll make a plan and pay for postage or a courier. More than once I've found myself looking up products on the net because they seem like a good deal, but I didn't even know I wanted/needed it until I saw it on special. ?

I bought my first electric at Lovemore Centurion, when they opened up a few years back. Ibanez GRG150, ended up paying R1250 for it which I though was a good deal.

Not sure what they will have on special. Just might be worth scouting around if in the area. I usually get about 10% when I buy consumables at their existing spot so I'd hope for a bit better on that day. A bit different from what Turnkey does though. Turnkey has clearance sales and are getting rid of stuff that they need to move. But talking about Turnkey, I called them about the AC4TV and the guy gave me a price and a discount. I called a place in Melville about the HT-5 and he just gave me a price and when I mentioned discount, said I should get my ass in there to see the thing. So I like the way Turnkey deals.
