Berklee in S.A?

I heard that some people from Berklee came to Durban to do auditions for scholarships.
And that not one person even got considered, apparently they said they're never wasting there time coming back here?

Seems a bit harsh if it's true, although it wouldn't really surprise me if it is.
Surely there must be one decent musician n durban?

eish, if that is true, that really sucks. Where did you hear this from?
And no, all the true musicians are in Johannesburg. Not Durban or that lame coastal town of the name Cape Town. No one likes coastal towns anyways.

I'm a bit dubious about the veracity of this. Anyway, if they came here and only went to Durban for trials, it's their own fault. No offence to our members in KZN, but the majority of the pro players are in JHB and CT, so they would be doing themselves and the local music community a grave disservice by not holding auditions in at least all three major locations.

I didn't hear anything on the grapevine about them coming - and I'm pretty sure that news like that would spread like wildfire through the music community. Anyway, AFAIK you go to them for auditions.

I just heard about this from a friend (who obviously added in some doo-doo), but I checked it out now and it seems they're only coming in June.

Maybe there should be a post about it letting the Durban "tokkelers" know, and any body else from jhb etc who wants to go down and try out.

And take note - they are auditioning in two cities only. Accra and Durban. So Capetonians, Worsceterias, Vaalies etc will have to travel to Durbs if they want to audition.

Wooster...like Wooster Sauce. BTW there's a huge roadside billboard in town with a picture of a bottle of brandy, the logo says "Worcester Sauce"... That says it all!

If you look here: http://www.berklee.edu/scholarships/africa/scholarshipdetails.html, it seems this years African auditions will be in Nairobi, Kenya - June 2 and 3, 2009.

I know a hard core old man from Rawsonville (right next to Worcester for those that don't know) and he used to say something along the lines of...
