What to do with R6000

Hey y'all , Ive made about 6000 bucks from playin folk shows

What would you guys do with the cash?
Im thinking about a new/2nd hand Axe?

Perhaps a
1) Japanese Fender (4000) and new pickups (2000)?
2) Ibanez RGA ?
3) Telecaster?

hmmm i like that 3rd option

I think I would go for the Telecaster. Never played on one though, but I would like the idea of owning one, just because i see a telecaster as a vintage type guitar.

It depends on what you got ATM,
If electric does it have a fix bridge, bigsby or Floyd Rose trem, hubuckers or single coil, fender or gibson string scales / lengths etc. if acoustic nylon or steel then look at something complementary, or try something that you don't have but like the sound of maybe a banjo, bass or trombone even, a keyboard is also good.
Or
Check out you local music shops Cash Converters etc. and try everything ... not just the sparkeley ones ... unplugged in a quiet corner and find one that speaks to you.

OTOH I bought a GT Pro for close to that and am way happy with it. YMMV.

If you lean towards a Tele, I may have one for you: A specially selected Baja with all the necessary upgrades - http://ratcliffe.co.za/gear/tele/index.shtml. I get good prices from Fender, so I'd be willing to part with it for R6K +shipping (they retail for R9895). PM me if it tickles your fancy.

Gareth - I used a GT-Pro for a year or so. Nice ? Shame you missed my one six months ago, sold it for what I paid for it new - R4K.

The "DirkV school for kids who can't play guitar good" is an institution of higher learning, a place where mere mortals will never survive. i have turned away the likes of Michael Angelo Batio and Steve Vai.

I agree with Alan. Decide what sound you want and then find a guitar that'll do the job and and is comfortable for you.

You have to take into account the amp you are using as well.

You might want to consider an amp or effects upgrade instead. You can get a lot of versatility out of a good amp and effects setup. That said I guess it's always good to have a good amp and guitar combo to start with.

What gear do you have at the moment?
