Fixing up a relic

Okay, some of you may have seen my Grant Guitar post under 'gear' - here's a pic anyways...http://www.pichost.co.za/v/LWNgo

So now I'm looking into buying parts - bridge, pickups, tuning machines etc, but I dont know what colour scheme to go with. I am in the process of sanding down the bits that were yellow from age - see pic http://www.pichost.co.za/v/pySfr (old on the right, new on the left), so it will be black with white trim. But the question is whether to stick with the black and gold, switch to black and chrome, or go with all black parts. Or black with touches of white (knobs, pickguard maybe, pickups maybe). I am confused...

Maybe you can help? Maybe you have some nice examples of your own?

i have personally always love gold trim on a guitar , only thing is , gold looks awful when diry or smudged or begins to start flaking . but in the begining looks awesome .....

My money is always on chrome as it's so much more durable. A bit "hard" looking, not as classy, but it stays looking fairly good for decades. Also a good contrast with gloss black finishes.

Gold is nice looking (for a month or two) on white guitars or trans red, but looks terrible very quickly though.

Nickel is silverish with a slight golden cast to it (less harsh than chrome) and also wears fairly quickly, but doesn't look as bad when it does.

The black chromes also wear pretty quickly and end up looking scrappy - especially the newer RoHS compliant black chromes.

Thanks Alan - still hasn't helped me make up my mind though! :-\ I think its between chrome and black then...
