@ Alan: U mean Jelutong is bland as in not interesting when not finished an opaque colour or bland as in not so interesting tone? I have different sources saying it's vibrant and has good sustain but its looks too dull on its own.
Bland tone. It works fairly well in most respects and If I was pushed to compare it with something, I'd say poplar. Not quite the same (maybe a bit darker than poplar), but that's what it puts me in mind of. Surprisingly consistent tone from piece to piece though.
@ Wizard: the myth that lighter wood will not sound good really is that, a myth. Tone comes down to the sonic properties of the wood, not its density.
Density does affect tone (the lower the density the lower the resonance), but yes, good tone is a character that suits the instrument and can be found in dense or lighter woods.

I was thinking about 25.5", I want 24 frets.
¿Me no comprendo? At any scale length you can have 24 frets.
I think WantzChas meant those as different things, rather than related he wants 25.5" scale
and he wants 24 frets rather than
because. My Sanox is a 25.5" 24-fret, BTW, and I struggled long and hard to find a neck pickup to suit it - it needs something darker than usual to split well, but the darker sounding pickups usually too powerful for neck position. Lower powered pickups don't split well, so I find I have to compromise on either the humbucker tone or the split tone.
