hola
I get a clicking sound almost like light static when I touch the strings and metallic bits on my guitars when plugged in to the Elk Viking Tube amp. also a light hum the emanates from the amps speaker when coming off standby with and without a instrument plugged in
I know this is an earthling problem. I checked it only has the live and neutral wires in the power lead, Whats the conventional wisdom on this, will wiring up a 3 core power lead take care of this.
by process of elimination I have got the same result.
Tested with
2 x guitars
3 x 1/4"-1/4" cords
2 x Amps
different wall sockets in various parts of the house
Everything points to the Elk ... but this is mu first tube ....so please help.

Hi Attila
Is the clicking sound rhythmical?
If so it might be your electric fence generator (if you have one that is) creating the interference.
switch off the electric fence and see if the clicking goes away.
The hum might be a bad earth/neutral connection in your house wiring. Is there somewhere else where you can test your rig?
BTW Hum problems are notoriously difficult to find and not always fixable. Hopefully yours is simple.

Hey Tomcat,
No man If it was I would use it as a beat refrence to keep in time

Is the power lead a two core ot three core lead.
If it is a three cord lead and the earth has been cut off then that is probably tour problem. Refit the power plug to include the earth wire.
Another possibility is that you are playing single coil guitars and that there is a bit of hum pickup.
Have you tried powering up the amplifier in a different venue outside of your house?
