I tend to think that Taylors are overpriced, but the Big Baby is pretty good for the money - especially for a beginner. There's something about the neck on Taylors that makes them easy to play, and the Big Baby is no exception. Intonation is good so you won't find it going out of tune as you go up the neck.
Not a purist's guitar though. Especially with a screw-on neck with the screws going straight through the fret board.
They have solid spruce tops, laminate back and sides.
I note that something's changed along the line somewhere. Eli's guitar has a truss rod cover on the bridge. With mine you have to go through the sound hole to get to the truss rod.
+1 To Eli. Though the body is not full sized (it's 7/8), the neck is.
Bob, as always, I value your input and advice. Well, most things today are overpriced, I agree!
The neck, yeah, I had Eli run his "little" hands up and down the neck to see if he was comfortable with it, his movement was smooth!
I did'nt know the earlier models, but I was impressed with the overall finish and construction, especially the weight, it's quite light.
Geez, he now does his homework a lot quicker to get to his guitar!!
One last thing, I am not too keen on "gig bags", even though the one it comes with is really nice, and want to go out sometime and get a decent hard case,
any ideas?
