thought id kick things off with a circuit bend mod on a Boss DS-1.
me an electronics aint the best of friends if you knows what i mean? i have a pet gator thats kinder to me.
but this is a easy mod, my purdy young cousin/girlfriend can do it too.
first up: disconnect the power, you dont want to be shocking yourself now do you? i kiss many things, sparkplugs aint one of them.
get yourself a soldering iron (this gets hotter than a farmers crack in an Arizonan summer: you've been warned)
grab yourself a on/off switch. don't ask me if its a SDTP, SDP, SH1-T switch - it goes on, and off. like a light switch. not one of those fancy ones with turny knob though.
but enuf chit chat, heres the mod.
Well how does it sound. i'm afraid not that great. not for my sound at least.
take the distortion over what would be 5 and you get this gawd darn awful scream from it. sounds like aunt betty shaving with a rusty ol cut-throat. trust me, you wanna block your ears.
heres a few sound clips so that you can judge:
reference: DS-1 off, bridge pickup, mod OFF
DS-1 on, 0 tone 0 dist, bridge pickup, mod OFF
DS-1 on, 0 tone 0 dist, bridge pickup, mod ON
DS-1 on, 5 tone 5 dist, bridge pickup, mod OFF
DS-1 on, 5 tone 5 dist, bridge pickup, mod ON
DS-1 on, 10 tone 5 dist (max allowed), bridge pickup, mod ON
*best sound* DS-1 on, 5 tone 2 dist, bridge to neck, mod ON *best sound*
So as you can see, not that great. maybe you should just try it, kinda like kissing a boy, you may like it.
im saying thank goodness i didnt drill for the switch, dont think i'll be keeping the mod.
