I watched an interview with some giging muso and he said he wouldn't spend the money to buy a Gibson or Fender, purely because of the fact that he is a gigging musician. I've heard so many stories of guys gear getting stolen, damaged, etc. He just upgrades the electronics, pickups, tuners, etc and gets a good setup done on his Epi's. They're made from pretty decent wood, from what I hear.

Looks like a nice guitar,however, I have seen one very similar for sale in the northern suburbs area recently. Unfortunately it was seriously beat up. If it's the same guitar I wouldnt drop R3k on it. The neck was buggered and most of the binding on the neck was loose and was "repaired" - you should spot it a mile away that it wasnt a very good job. Check it out properly first ?

I agree with Joey here aswell. How much does a Gibson LP Std cost in Rands??? I would love to own one but would never take it on the road. Besides getting the crap beat out of it as much as possible ( i mean that in a good way ? ) I would die if my Gibbo got swiped. Most Epi's are pretty well made. All they need most of the time is some sweet pickups and maybe some decent electronics etc. I did the same thing with my RG's a while back when I got them.

I have to say that playing a genuine US Gibby or Fender is really rewarding if you can afford it. My old squier felt like crap after I bought my US strat.

True true Joey. I bought aN Epi LP custom a while ago and it had nothing on the USA custom. Also tried a very nice custom shop strat a while back(even though I'm not a big Fender fan) and it sounded and played amazingly-even with crusty strings ?

I see you own a JTM60. Nice amps those. Had the 1x12 version a while back and stupidly flogged it to get a POD :-[ Man am I still regretting that. My TSL122 seems to do the trick these days though - bitch to carry around :?

Mine is a 1x15 combo. Sounds good and isn't too big. I would have preferred a single twelve, but I got it as part of a trade.

I have a friend who sold his 86' Les Paul Studio, which was an absolute animal (In a good way) to buy an 86' Les Paul Standard which has been fitted with original PAF's. The standard is an awesome guitar and this one has the slim neck which made it comfortable for me to play.
