giggsy Hi - Im new to this whole recording thing so please excuse my ignorance. I have been offered a Snake Cable for R400 (decent price?). What I basically want to do is hook my guitar up to my computer to do some tinkering - will it do the job? The guy assures me that its got a usb on one end and a guitar input on the other. I would obviously be able to route it through my effects pedal then I assume? But i suppose I would also need some software so I may as well go for the Behringer UCG102 which comes with the software - best price Ive seen is R639.
Heath i suspect you talking about the light snake , guitar plug on one end and a usb able on the other . I have one of these and they work very well , works great with guitar rig . R400 is about the going price for these , but it doesn't take well to fx pedals for some daft reason unless you drop the output level . software wise you can download reaper which is free and works extremely well , alot of the forum members use it .
majestikc with the big snakes you have to keep them uncoiled or you get a lot of noise and feedback. Is that what you mean about using it with fx?
NorioDS I've got one of these and it works quite well. Don't use it anymore coz I just connect my Korg PX5D to the PC instead, but it's the exact same theory. One end plugs into guitar, other end plugs into USB and, voila, you're recording. The device registers as a new soundcard, so be sure to set your recording software up right. I paid R350 for mine over 6 months ago, so R400 is fine, I'm sure.
Spyke Norio, where'd you get your from. I've treid a few places and they can't help me. Wanting to try this out, should be an improvement over my 3.5mm DI Edit: Searches take me to Norio.co.za ? hahaha!
NorioDS Spyke wrote Norio, where'd you get your from. Marshall Music in Woodmead but I don't think they always keep stock. Call in and see if they have / can order one for you. Hope this helps ?
Spyke Last time I was there (Turnkey) they one had one or two of the other cables in the range, no guitar snakes... I'll check again soon.
Squonk @ Tailon Are there any latency issues with the snake you are using? I am using my Zoom G2.1u as an audio interface, it works well and I think I have solved the latency issue. BUT I am not too sure about the bypass on the unit, if it's that true or not. How does the snake work? ???
Heath with guitar rig i got latency down to 1.5 ms recording straight to the daw i get no noticeable latency
