ok, people that know me would read the subject line and say, "yes, so whats new?" but i need help in recording from my GT-8 into my PC. i have Audacity on the PC and a digital line out on the GT-8.
what cables do i need?
What's your soundcard? Does it have a digital in? If so, you can use that just getting the relevant digital cable to connect them (as long as they are the same type of digital connector: SPDIF or Optical).
If you don't have a digital in, you may need to either plug the normal analog outs into the soundcard's analog ins - not perfect as the signal then is converted from digital to analog in the GT-8, then back to digital in the soundcard, which is two extra stages of DA that it would be nice to avoid if possible (not to mention the soundcard's preamps).
the gt8 has a left and right (stereo output) , so what you need is a type of turnaround
2 -> 1 jack ....
this is especially nice , if you are combining preamps (Saldano / Rectifier mix is my fav)
otherwise, i sometimes just record mono (choose either left or right out, and go straight into you
line in (if you dont have a soundcard, it should be the green small plug, next to your master(blue) , and mic (red)
make sure your speaker simulation is set to Original (avoid the cabinet simulators for recording)
You can borrow my UX-2 for now. I'm not really using it at the moment. It connects via USB. You'll just have to check if it works with Audacity.
guys thank you so much!
i am a really dork when it comes to this sort of thing, i am more like give me a guitar plug it in and play loud.
Technical things scare me :-\
Guys thank you for all the help regarding my recording. i played around on the weekend and got it going, hoping to post some stuff soon
