I have a casio keyboard, it's a cheap R1500 one but has midi in/out. I am also uding a esi Juli@ soundcard and does have midi in/out.
The problem is i cant record anything in reaper through midi. I have read everything i can off google and still nothing. Does anyone know what i can try? Is there other Free software that supports midi i can download to see if it might work and not just settings in reaper.

I just read something now. Wjat i did was connected out from the sounds card to out on the keyboard. Should of been to input. Ill try this when i get home and see if it works

I seem to remember something about having to go into settings ->midi devices and then enable the device... Not too sure about any of this though.
Let us know if you don't come right with what you are going to try tonight.

Yup i did enable all those settings, i am dam sure i just didn't connect the cables correctly. It's commen sence that midi out will go to midi in, I didn't even think just wanted it to work. Yup i'm gonna try tonight and will let you know tonight.

the problem was the midi cables were connected wrong. It's all working now? Anyone know of a good vsti/instrument for piano and strings. If possible a free one.
