5-String Bass Kit Build — Tucker Guitars Takes Shape

Tuckstir picked up a Blackbeard's Den 5-string bass kit — Ibanez Soundgear-style body — and turned it into a proper build diary covering finishing, staining, routing, and the very real pain of masking tape that doesn't hold clean lines on wood.
The multi-colour stain finish is where most of the action is. After hours of masking and remasking, stain bled under the tape on the front. He fixed it, adapted the approach, and got there. modulator chimed in with a useful note on frisket tape versus standard masking tape for stain work — worth reading if you're planning any kind of colour work on a body. The carving work on the back cover fit is subtle but satisfying, and the headstock decal — Tucker Guitars — is a nice touch that makes it feel finished rather than kit-built.
The thread ends with it strung up and ready to play. Low B string verdict still pending.

Got a kit build story of your own? Pull it out and share it — this is exactly the kind of content that makes GT worth coming back to.
