Welcome all to 2026, three years after our last round of voting!

A big thank you to Stoffeltoo and Studmissile for two fantastic entries this month, both are radio worthy and definitely worth your time to have a listen and a vote :thumbsup:

The brief was:

Record a track that documents/describes an Event in your life.
This Event could be something happy, sad, exciting or tedious - you decide!

Please vote for you favourite - no prizes this month - but Bonus points for comments and feedback 👍️

Not so fast! Bit of a rush job but Stoffeltoo's entry inspired me to get something out.

Two killer track ands how to choose?

Stoffeltoo : Top drawer songwriting, even for this soutie the lyrics were clean, sweet and described an event as well as I think could be done (High five for Valentine's!). That's a skill I truely envy! I even thought the wife was doing a duet with you, but as you corrected me, it was a melodyne studio trick - worked great. Super strong chorus with the 'Wha-wha-wha', my favourite part!

Studmissile : Sweet guitar tone, harmonica & keys - what more could I ask for? Not sure what the tune was about, I'm thinking a break-up? For a last minute entry there was a lot of details to enjoy - the spanky tele tone, the funky guitar stabs syncing with harmonica and vocals - My favourite bit was the slick movement you had between verse/chorus, I had to go back and listen for the change, wish I could do that! Here and there the levels weren't quite balanced, but I'm really nitpicking here.

Gents thank you for entering, it's been +/- 3 years since our last comp 🤯 And it's inspiring to hear how you guys have stuck at it! Take a bow, you are both winners!

Thanks. Had the basic foundation but have been battling with overlay ideas. So in the end, I just threw in what I had been messing around with. Forgot how cathartic these challenges are?

Lovely playing and singing @Stoffeltoo, like I said, got me inspired, I voted for you but for some reason it wasn't accepting the vote. Not sure if it's just my browser?

The voting thing is a bit wonky - you can vote, it is registered, but it returns a error regardless 🤷‍♂️ As it was, it was 1 vote all, Yip - your vote was counted! I was tempted to pop a poll on the whatsapp group, since 98% of peeps have now settled on whatsapp as their platform of choice for GuitarTalk, but I wanted to see how many would actually login and vote on the 'ol forum ((answer....zero!). Just confrims that this forum and discord group are ghost town's. Maybe forums will be fashionable again (lol, little chance of that).

Absolutely! 👍️ Getting an idea out o' my head and onto 'tape' was always the the win, at least for me. More than a lit' bummed I still got mine stuck in the head, but I just couldn't find a guitar that it worked on.

Still I dug your track, wondering when that EP of all your tracks is coming out 😁
