Guitar Rig versions and dealers?

Hi Guys

I am going to take the plunge into the world of Guitar Rig, have sold my amp and will go the software route (for now).

I am kinda confused with all the versions, which one would you say I should get?

I have an audio interface already, so I don't think the Session one makes sense.

Is the Kontroller worth it? I see many of you use the Behringer jobbie with success.

Any idea of dealers in CPT?

Lastly I see this on Tuerk Music's website http://www.tuerkmusic.co.za/article.php?a_id=181 I assume this is a good deal, but can anyone confirm?

I bought Guitar Rig 3 Software edition (that's the full version software without the foot control) online from Native Instruments - you download the software and updates.

However, if you're thinking of buying recording software also, I'd recommend you go for Sonar 8 Producer, which includes Guitar Rig LE. I of course first bought GR3 and then got Sonar... :-[

Native Instruments recently had a special whereby LE users could upgrade to the full version. Don't know if it involves a lot of savings though, it might be worth exploring to go that way.

But I can highly recommend GR3, it's awesome. The presets are great to start with, and on the GR User Forum there are lots and lots of presets to download. And of course you can create your own combination of amps, effects and other esoteric stuff (analogue sequencers, rotators, splitters, phasers) which in the hands of someone like me is probably dangerous, and probably should not be allowed in built up areas...

I already use Reaper as my recording software, so I'm fine with that.

So I suppose I want the full software version.

Can you run a microphone and guitar through guitar rig at the same time? I'd like to use the Looper function and would want to use vocals and guitar in the loop.

May I ask what you paid for the full version? If you at the link I posted, there seems to be a special where if you buy the Session version for R2995 you also get the Full software version free. Would this be a good deal?

You missed the special offer. Maybe try them anyway.

Offer applies only to purchases made between February 1st and March 31st, 2009, second-hand purchases are excluded.

Yes you can. I used a mic to get my vocoder/modulator patch right (and also inputted a drum track for the same). You might need a mic preamp for a mic if you are using Rig Kontrol.

In fact:

All done with Guitar Rig 3, although he used a few copies running in a sequencer.

I need to reinstall my Komplete Bundle, I gave up on it when it first came out because more than half the apps were NOT UB so it didn't work on my MacBook/MacPro... that video was inspirational!

I think so, if you can get it for that price. I paid around R3500 for mine, which was the normal price - there weren't any specials then. My impression at the time was that it was the cheapest and easiest at the time to buy it that way, otherwise it would have meant waiting until I had a chance to go to CT etc...and I'm not blessed with patience, I'm all for instant gratification!

I went down to Marshall Music now and picked up Guitar Rig Session (Which is an Audio Interface with Guitar Rig XE software). The deal is that you fill in a form with your proof of purchase on NI's website, and they'll then send you some sort of code that will allow you to upgrade to the full software version of Guitar Rig for free ?

The audio interface is a neat little thing, seeing that I already have a decent interface, I'll probably use this one when travelling.

Awaiting my code patiently...
