Nope i used the same chord in the shop.......isn't that dangerous to exclude the earth leakage....or other ideas what this could be anyone?
YES!!!! It is VERY dangerous... the Electrical/Chassis Ground is there incase of a short occurs, if it does, this will cause the power to trip... if not and a live wire is sitting on the chassis and you touch it you WILL be electrocuted as current will take the path of least resistance, and in this case, that will be you!
While I'm NOT discounting a grounding issue, it may well not be. Ground noise tends to be a hum related, not a hiss/crackle.
How handy are you with a multimeter? You can check the ground potential difference in your wall sockets if you know how and check if their is noise on the ac lines as the shop assistant shared?
Would also be interesting to see what is actually coming OUT of the wall socket, some gear suffers in that the power transformer core hysteresis in under/over voltages, this can lead to a larger than life EMF field, which in turn is inducted into the amp, causing sporadic noise/hiss/crackle.
RE the Hairdryer, while I've not seen this, I do know that if my soldering iron is one when working with audio gear that the radiated EMF from the lousy transformer makes it's way into the audio path, but again, more a hum, not a buzz/noise.
Cheers
