Neps
Well, my ears are still bust after Saturday and Sunday.. And even if it's not my type of music I must say, the Metal scene in the good ol' RS of A looks good. Saw some awesome guitarists, very good vocalists (when I did manage to hear them actualy sing and not scream), and tight drumming.
The main irk as with many of these 'festival' things is the quality of the sound guys. If it wasn't that you only heard the snare drum (eg. st. Anger), or had an earnumbing exposure to bass, the vocalists had a constant fight against the rest of the mix. And that is where we are starting to see the rot caused by audio college graduates. The ideas of pulling a mix is down to some spykie haired chap that wants everything too loud and get get to grips with getting a balance, what is needed EQ wise and so forth.
As for gear.. Well, there were some beauts of guitars and amps!!! My favorite.. The bloke who played a cheap Yamaha electric and made the act after them look like kids!!
Band of the weekend...... Fire Like You!!!
