Karel-Mars Hi All I have just worked on an interesting tube amp It seems to be early 50's British made. Has anybody seen this model? Note the earth rail running above and along the tube sockets Nice point to point wiring - the way I like it ?

AlanRatcliffe Weird issues with the image host. Even following aja's links gives me 404 errors, but cutting and pasting the URLs into new windows works - I think the host has some kind of anti-hotlinking or something... Interesting one Karel, but I've never seen one like it.

Cannon The wiring and setup looks very similar to my old Teisco! It's 1969...so probably round that era or earlier perhaps.
Karel-Mars I connected a free standing speaker to test the amp, and plugged in my Ibanez. Both inputs seems to have similar gain, and the amp is not very loud, even when cranked. It is not a clean amp. It has quite a lot of harmonic distortion - not at all unpleasant. Power chords ring out nicely. With a pedal one should be able to lay down some cool lead lines. This amp is for the bedroom or the studio. I tried to work out why it is so soft. There is a ECC82 in the phase splitter, which would make the amp quite gentle gain wise. The cathode resistor is unbypassed - so that would add some negative feedback, and reduce the gain. Otherwise I suspect the coupling caps (vintage british mustard caps) to be dodgy somewhere. I think with a total component redo, the sound should be close to an AC15 I only had the chassis in for a service. I'll see if I can get photos.
