I have wanted something to record on for a while, but it has not been at the top of my priorities list. I had a look a while back at the Line 6 Pod Studio UX1 & UX2. However, I know the availability of things like this in SA are pretty rare. I have not seen one anyway.

So what are your thoughts on good recording equipment, with excellent value for money? And the availability here? And of course the prices? ?

I am obviously no pro so I need something simple to record and then play back to criticise myself and hear what I sound like.

Throw them all at me; let me have look what I can find!!

The Audiotrak range from ESI is good and also inexpensive.

I traded in a line 6 UX2 at McGibbons not so long ago - and I think it is still there. I deregistered all the software so there should be no hassles. The original discs and the USB cable were also in the box.

Worked well - but I wasn't using it much and wanted a stomp box.

I was looking at the Line 6 Toneport UX8 a while back. Bit overkill, but I reckoned I rather have too much that struggle with too little. Marshall could give it to me for + - R 5700

Check out the Boss Micro BR. I think they retail for around R3000. I got mine from Graeme and it's a very nice machine.

It looks really nice. Will check what i can get that for the weekend.

Is it worth it? Good quality? easy to use? no problems connecting to a notebook or pc?

I just came back from Matt's music in Weltevredenpark. They have it there for R3999, but will propably be able to bring it down to around R3000. I havent used mine that much, but maybe Graeme can give his input. The guys at the store recon it's a pretty desent recorder, and it also looks that way from what I've seen on the net.
