www.songsterr.com - really cool site

JK

Kick ass site with some nifty features. Select a song (ohh, say, Cliffs of Dover - http://www.songsterr.com/a/wa/song?id=6701) and it plays through the tab, you can toggle instruments, and its just really done nicely. As far as i can tell from a few minutes of looking is that its a pay site BUT you can do most things for free.

Have a look-see. Let me know what you think

Great find, It is like Guitar Pro on the internet! :goodtimes:

JK

exactly. Was chuffed with it. I cant really see why someone would pay for it when you get it for free really. Either way, its cool.

Thanks to the linux community , there is a free legal version of guitar pro out there , it's called tuxguitar , http://www.tuxguitar.com.ar/ , it comes in mac / windows and linux versions , and works very well .

Tailon, another great linux utility is D-Guitar
Similar to guitar pro, but only a linux version available

Heath

theres actually about 8 version of the guitar pro programs i have found so far , in my quest for linux based viewer , but tuxguitar is the best imo , and works on windows and linux (for all those using ubuntu studio)

kayDUB

does tuxguitar actually read the .gp* files?

Heath

it's basically a freeware version of guitarpro , reads all the gp? files , and you can even create gp? files .

Agreed.

Only thing with the songsterr site is that it doesn't have a huge database of songs at the mo, hopefully the site will get more popular and eventually reach ultimate-guitar.com size.
