Is this a coated string?
Yes. Coated wounds and plated plain strings. The ball ends are reinforced with titanium - hence the name (although I don't know if that's such a benefit for an acoustic player). If you do try a set, please report back as I'd be interested in your opinion as a dedicated acoustic player.
I usually use the Elixir steel-string sets as they last longest (especially as I don't play steel-string often).
I tried DR electrics a few years ago and liked them aside from problems with consistency - it seemed that every set I used had at least one dud string. When I got a good set, they actually lasted longer for me than anything else aside from Maxima Golds or until the Elixirs came along.
I'm dying to try the Titanium electrics. I love the feel, sound and durability of the Elixir electric sets, but they are non-conductive, which is the deal-breaker for me, otherwise I'd use them exclusively. I've considered trying the Cleartone strings (which are plated rather than coated), but they are only available online, so I'd have to buy a bunch to justify the shipping charges that the online string retailers ask. So if the Titanium sets will do the job, I'll switch to those in a heartbeat. I can also get the Ernie Ball strings at a good price, which while not my primary concern is a consideration.
