I noticed on a thread elsewhere that Alan has fitted an "Earvana" nut to one of his custom beauties. I did some research on the web regarduing these nuts and it seems all good when it comes to intonation.
Is there any change to tone as compared to the original nut <that is assuming their if their was another nut in place before>? For example when fitting a Graphtec nut to a Fender Strat the tone tends to be a bit darker than with the standard nut <assuming its not a Tusq nut>.

Regards

Mike
I think I'm the only one around who has one. I fitted mine to a new neck, so couldn't judge it for any tonal change. Rich at Earvana told me "it's the same material Graph Tech uses, without the Teflon" - which would make it the same as the Tusq nuts (boron polytrinate). I thought it seemed softer, but Dave Dunwoodie at Graph Tech recently confirmed this for me.

Truth be told, I like the Graph Tech materials - they pass the "ping test" convincingly and are much more predictable than bone. I've got some Black Tusk (Trem Nut) blanks on the way from Graph Tech to make my own compensated LSR-sized nuts.
