Heine's will be my favorite.. But you can't beat Castle when you pay R6 for them in Stellenbosch!! :goodtimes:

Used to be a Black Label man, but lately it's Heineken for me. On occasion a Peroni will do as well.
Although I am actually a Vodka fan, which explains why I'm currently sitting at work feeling a bit fragile....

dee that makes 2 of us.. ☹ But I'm more of a whisky and Rum&Coke fan.. To quote How I met Your Mother 'I love a burboun thats old enough to order it's own burboun..'

My favourite local tipples are the excellent beers from Drayman's who brew near Centurion (this is an unpaid, unsolicited referal - I have no connection with Drayman's). In particular I enjoy their Alt (a German style, made from lightly roasted malt which imparts a coppery colour) and their India Pale Ale which is everything an IPA should be, which is to say it's well hopped to preserve it whilst travelling by sea from England to India.
Drayman's is available in a few eateries in Jozi, rather more in Centurion and Pretoria, and is starting to pop up in bottle stores in 1l bottles.
Once we start including imported and overseas beers... well don't get me started. In the round I like English bitter ale. Yes... I do know what they say about English cuisine, and I don't care.

A nice cold one will go down well right now :goodtimes:

I'm a coffee addict...
Never did take to beer, but occasionally enjoy a good single-malt.

Amstel when it comes to beer, but ya I have been known to treat a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red like a beer and drink straight from the bottle ???
When asked why I don't use a glass, my reply apparently was "Maar hy is mos in 'n glas... bottel" Needless to say I do not remember too much of that specific evening...

I'm pretty fond of a good Guinness straight out of the tap and Hansa Marzen Gold is also good in the tummy. Have anyone heard of a beer called Gilroy? They are also quite nice. But there is little that beat a good "Kaptein Skuim" and coke. Especially when you start pouring rum and coke on a 50/50 basis. I just really hope they find a cure for the post drinking, morning after stench you experience from dinking a lot of rum.

Heath

[deleted]

I'm a Windhoek guy. Not the biggest beer drinker.
I have to go with Alan on this one. Bring on the single malt (Glenmorangie).

Rene, I'm shocked to see Castle so faaaarrr down the list.. ? But then again, not everyone likes their beer to be able to double up as paint stripper due to all the chemicals. ?
Heath
it's a old wifes tail about the chemicals , after doing the beer tour a few years ago i moaned in the guest book about the chemicals in castles , not only did the marketing director give me a call regarding it , i was invited on a personal tour os the brewery's and i know from personal expierience , Castle is brewed like any natural beer (been a hobbyist brewer)

Beer also has many other uses, like this here, the Beer Bird, or for the Afrikaans folks, "Bier in die hol hoender"
I've got this down to a fine art!
