Coke Fest / Coke Zero fest have completely lost me as a punter, same thing happens every year. They get a few big names on in the beginning, and then at last minute one or two of these big names have some sort of emergency or somesuch and can't come. Surely there must be some sort of contract written up? I'm not too sure of how these things work, but I can't see how this could happen two years in a row. Do they start advertising the list of acts before actually signing a contract with them?
Since G&R didn't pitch last year they pissed me off so much I didn't bother to look at the set list this year.

That's a big ouch, and the venues changed a few weeks back not? Im sure i heard that on the radio.... Sounds like poor organising to me.
I went to the first one, Collective Soul, Seether, Mettalica. That was awesome, missed the Staind one ☹
Couldn't be bothered with what they have brought in since...
NorioDS
Went to the first 2.
Bands at first one ROCKED! Dehydration SUCKED!
Bands at second one were mediocre (nice day out with friends, but not so much there for the bands) but at least there was plenty food and drink. Nandos stall was awesome ? (I'm a Nandos freak. LOVE the stuff)
Staind was cool in 2nd concert. And 3 Doors Down was nice. But ja, nothing explosive. And that's what they need. A band that sends the crowd going nuts.

you know i am not surprised by this at all , it happens every year , the tickets are heavely overpriced , and theres never enough food and drink . not a good day out at all

I wonder when Coke is going to realize that they are just throwing money in the water with these festivals.
Why don't they just bring down 2 great bands and let the rest of the slots be filled with SA Bands, we have enough of them!

Get Dan Patlansky to play at Zero Fest ? Wonderful entertainer!!

It's starting to become a regular thing where bands pull out at the last minute. Was it guns n roses that pulled out last year?
Spyke
Maybe BFMV and RJA realized that SA is where bands come to die and decided not to risk it - they still have some life in them! ?

That was 2 years ago ...
Last year no-one pulled out ... well .. at least not from performing ..hehe. I got to see Muse live ... which was worth the whole admission alone.

Come on guys it's not Big Concerts fault that certain "Artists" Ego's are bigger than their professionalism. Apparent both bands were contracted and paid in full. see

The organisers are doing a very good job so far.
Its just the bands that are not staying true to their word, they could have started working on their album 3 months ago instead of doing it in a hurry.

Okay okay I take it back then ? Just still seems like a trend with the Coke shows though...

BFMV are an epic fail. They've officailly lost their South African fanbase, althought i suppose they dont really care.

I have been to all three thus far, starting with the Mettallica one, then moving to the Staind, 3 Doors down and Evanescence concert and finally last year with the Muse, Chris Cornell and Korn. I say without reservation that all 3 concerts were great and worth the ticket price. The organization was as good as any concerts I have attended overseas and for all three I was there for the start and left only when the last band left the stage. So I will unreservedly give the promoters 10 out of 10.
This year the lineup did not inspire me so for the first time I did not get tickets early, possibly the promoters can be faulted this year for the lineup they engaged but we don't know what goes on behind the scenes and seeing how BFMV just bale at the last moment <as did GNR two years ago>, possibly its the arrogance and lack of professionalism of the bands we should question rather than the local promoters.
I will always support the Coke Fest at least they try to get the better bands here and provide something for the local rock audience.
My 2 cents worth

True about the organizers I think. But the line up this year was very thin anyway compared to the past shows.
