Hi,
I cant carry my 4x12 (greenbacks) cab around town any more, so I decided to use my 2x12 instead.
I removed the speakers in the 2x12(black standard) and replaced them with the 2 greenbacks.
My amp's ohms are set at 8 and each speaker is 16ohms.
I tried the amp and new speakers, and it works fine. I boosted the volume; works and sounds like your first kiss.
Is it fine? Can I expect to play for next few months without expecting fireworks again? Or should I change my ohm settings on the amp immediately?
General rule of thumb is that you should ALWAYS match your amp and speaker impedance, though certain amps had output trafos that allowed for tolerance mismatching ala a Fender Twin for eg.
If you parallel your 2 speakers you will get 8 Ohms, so it will match your amp output impedance... simple fix ?
Cheers
