I am done with the maple top, 4 layers of tung oil, the earlier ones diluted. and 2 layers of danish oil, doing wet sanding between layers 3 and 6.
i still need to finish the rest of the guitar, but its fine for now.
i've got super cheap strings on, to test the guitar, and a nut from another guitar, still need to make the nut.
but it seems like it is working, and making a sound, its sounds alot like a jazz guitar, plays nice, got some small intonation problems, but nothing major.
i'll keep the strings on for a week to observe if there is any changes in wood warping.
my calculations seems to have worked out, they 4 degree neck angle and bridge, but my neck must have been deeper into the body, now the bridge sits very high , probably giving it the archtop/jazz type sound.
i must say i really slept well last night, knowing that this guitar works, it can really ad some stress to your life.
yes that is sellotape, didn't have the right screws for the pickups ? will do it later
the tung oil on the mahogany came out very nice!!!
now to get the knobs, pots, truss rod cover on.
