Wantzchas, i also had the idea of attemping it for 3 years now, and finally started this year, it depends what wood you want to use and parts.
The most expensive part is the pickups, so i suggest starting off with some old pickups.
i'll do a rough estimate:
Bridge R180
Tuners(still need to get some)
Truss rod R130(by adding some shipping costs it could get expensive)
fret dot inlay (R5 a dot)
frets (i bought some of it long ago, cant remember what i paid but it was a bargain, but useally a R400 for stewmac for 50 feet or so)
Raduis block(dont know, made my own one)
wood:
maple wood top : R175
African mahogany : R830
Rosewood fretboard : R50
Wood for laminated neck : R200
having it machined and drum sanded could get pretty intense and also pricy if you dont plan correctly.
Could probably add up anywhere between R1500 - R4000,without pickups, depending what you want to do.
seeing the smile on my face when this guitar is finished: Priceless
It also takes long, anywhere between a month and a year..........
So before even attemping to buy wood, do some more research, i'd to start from project guitar:

IF you go buy wood, see if they have an offcut section, sometimes one gets lucky by finding a piece of wood that is the correct size.
