Riaan I'm haunted by an imagined guitar that keeps me awake at night. She's a special Strat, assembled by myself from parts hand picked on EBay...a guitar Frankenstein! :yup: When I close my eyes I can smell her. In my dreams I feel the gentle curves of her body rubbing against mine and she moans and growls like a wild lioness.. :yup:.. Get the picture? So, I'm soon gonna start looking for a body and neck. My question: are all Fender Strat bodies and necks compatible in terms of measurements and so on? I.e. will any Fender neck fit into the slot of any Strat body? And how about pickguards and so on, all standard shapes and sizes?
FatBoy Can't answer your question, but I say go for it man, I'm sure there are enough knowledgeable folk on here to help you, it sounds like you have to build this, no question ?
CDee Sounds like you need a book called "Hotrod your electric guitar" or something like that. That should have all the info you need. I wonder where we can find a book like that? ? ? ?
Heath i have heard about this guy called ALAN , i believe he is the king of frankien strats , has anyone got contact details for him 8)
Riaan i have heard about this guy called ALAN I've also heard about him...not sure if he's real though because one human being cannot know so much about guitars, I suspect he might be a computer. But I'm anxiously awaiting his input.
AlanRatcliffe Need input... Need more input.... US Fender, USA Custom Guitars and Warmoth are perfectly compatible all the time. Most of the others like Musikraft, Allparts and Mighty Mite are supposed to be, but are actually inconsistent enough that there is a possibility of running into problems. Even with Fender, Korean and Taiwanese stuff is often not quite right, so when you mix and match with US parts you run the risk of incompatibilities.
