A super 58 pickup is definitely one of my favourites. My AR300 had them. Medium low output and nicely balanced.
My LP came with Classic 57s. Also medium low output. By all accounts quite similar. Maybe a bit fatter sounding with a bigger bass response.. but that could be the difference in the guitar rather than the pickup.
The theory is that the 57 have alnico 2 magnets. The 58 have alnico 3. No idea how that is supposed to affect tonality.
Never played a guitar with a 490 in it.
For whats its worth. I swopped the 57s out for some Bareknuckle pups. They now live in the Epi dot. I do find the bridge 57 quite aggressive sounding 🤔
