GuitarTalk "The Lick" Challenge!

V8 · 2021-02-23T10:43:32+00:00

Welllll, don't blame me - it was all @Bluetone 's idea! You've gotta use the lick somewhere in your composition. That's it. Any genre and any recording devices (Bluetone deserves a high five for thinking of us peeps using cellphone as our recording device). Make it ironic, make it funny, make it djent, make it bluesy. Darn, you can even sing it! Here's the wiki example in E minor - the root note (e) is 5th fret on the B string. 📅 Entries Close: Monday, 14th March 2021, 23:59PM 📜Rules: Entries to be up to three (3) minutes in length. You must use "The Lick" (in any key) at least once your recording. No genre restrictions or recording equipment restrictions. Use the interface, use the cellphone - it's all good. P.s. Collaborations are encouraged! ⁉How To Enter: Record your entry, sign up or log in to SoundCloud, post it there. Then grab the SoundCloud link and reply here with the link pasted in your reply. **If possible, make your track public - that way I can make a playlist up. **If you are doing a cover (yes, allowed!) and are concerned with copyright issues Or if you just prefer not to use soundcloud, @Norio has setup mp3 uploads, read more here 🏅Prizes: No prizes this month...but there is the fame and glory of winning a GuitarTalk Challenge. And the ever increasingly dubious distinction of selecting the next challenge topic. Not sure how one could ask for more!!! Anyone can enter this competition. You just need a guitar and a phone. But any other recording equipment is fine too. Collaborations with fellow members or anyone you can recruit is encouraged! Good luck and don't forget to share the meme's!

Well..@NorioDS is gonna donate a R100 Paul Bothner's voucher for this month's winner...if you needed any more encouragement!

Nice one @NorioDS !

Almost done, it's an older entry with a few embellishments and 'the lick!'

studmissile Nice! I'm getting there too - I think @Bluetone has infected us with earlybird-itus 😆 Usually I'd still be tweaking at 23:58:59

...though, I think it's to preserve sanity as much as anything. I really don't enjoy tracking and then listening back how much I don't practice 🤦

studmissile

Done! Can you hear the lick? 😄

V8

12 Bar Blues, in A. 'Hardly Subtle' coz' there's 12x "The Lick" and 4x Freddy King's 🤦

Thoroughly enjoyed this one - I had doubts initially, but great idea @Bluetone 👍️

Sorry had to fix a glitch.

guidothepimmp man, I wish there was a way to double-like. 😀

Wowzers. All mighty fine. Gonna stick 'em on the monitors and make a choice, but it's going to be hard. Wish I'd had the time to get one done but between getting one child settled at UCT and the other one sorted in isolation (Covid scare at the school) it's been a messy few weeks.

Nicely done fellas.
