Dirk
I own a Cort acoustic. I only bought it to Jam around the house, but the other day when I plugged it in for the first time, the 6th string does play through the pick up. :-\ Why would the pick up, pick up all the other strings and not this one? Is it a major problem to fix, or would I have to send it in? Guitar is out of warranty already..

This is usually just either an uneven saddle bottom or some debris in the slot. Very rarely it is a piezo element which is damaged (it happens, but not often), or a bowing top.
Remove your strings and saddle. Clean out the slot with a clean paintbrush, both underneath the pickup and on top. Remove any shims - they are usually more trouble than they are worth if they are there. Check the bottom of the saddle against the edge of a steel rule (put them together and hold to the light) to make sure if it is flat - if not sand flat on sandpaper on a flat surface (plate glass is best).

...and then put it back together, right Alan? ?
But seriously, if you're going to sand your saddle, take care to hold it perpendicular to the sanding face. The long end is not so hard to get right, that one just gets filed off more to the side where you hold it (if not in the middle). The short side is the difficult one - easiest way to hold it square is to saw a notch of the same width as your saddle into a piece of wood, making sure that if you clamp the saddle in the notch it sits squarely with the front and is flush with it or protruding a little. Sanding now will sand off the wood as well, so you will see right away if you're not holding things square.
Final thing - sand with paper 120-180. The most commonly found paper is 60 or 80 grit, which is going to give you more trouble sanding the saddle, whether it's plastic, bone or whatever.
