Hi, I’m going on a long overseas flight and long trip for New Years so will be without guitar. However I thought this would be a good time to further learn some theory to help my playing. Would you guys recommend a certain book to learn theory? I plan on continuing to use the book when I have my guitar, but more importantly will be reading it without it, so don’t want a book that requires me to have my guitar with me to make sense of everything. Also, if you guys have any other ideas for things I could be doing to improve my playing/musicianship? I intend to do some ear interval training as well. Thank you!
The two best guitar books in my opinion are:
Fretboard Theory (Volume 1): Desi Serna, there's also a volume 2, but can't comment on that. The Guitar Handbook by Alastair M. Crawford, Isaac Guillory, and Ralph Denyer
Both are required reading.
@tony77 from my humble personal musical journey I cannot recommend spending time with ear training enough, especially with intervals. It really will take your musicianship in a all-round way up a good few notches.
