Hiya All.. new to the community.
Ive been searching for a few years to get an affordable valve amp and have made the classic begginer deed of buying one solid state amp after another and never getting the valve tone.
Anyway i recently bought an old teisco checkmate 25 amp head with cabinet. Id like to find out how i can tell the age of the unit.
It has 12AX7 preamp tubes and Mullard EL84 tubes (made in Great Britain) still in it. It appears ro have rather large grey capacitors of different diameters and thicknesses standing like the tubes from the electronic component casing.
It looks very old with silver face knobs like the old record player hifi. The logo is still cast aluminium the cab has a kickback leg on either side still shaped and crafted like un the old days.
Can anyone help to odentify the age and maybe what i can look for to tell.
